Editorial Policy
RatanSardar.in is committed to publishing accurate, independent, fact-based and responsible content. This Editorial Policy governs all content published on this platform and applies to every article, news update, educational resource and opinion piece.
RatanSardar.in is an independent digital media and educational platform founded and edited by Prof. Ratan Gautam Sardar, Pune. Our mission is to provide accurate, educationally valuable and socially responsible content to students, citizens and readers across Maharashtra and India.
We are committed to the following core editorial values:
- Truth & Accuracy — We publish only what we reasonably believe to be true and factually supported.
- Independence — Our editorial decisions are free from political, commercial, personal or governmental pressure.
- Fairness — We present balanced perspectives and do not publish content intended to harm, mislead or defame.
- Accountability — We acknowledge our mistakes and correct them promptly and transparently.
- Public Interest — Content is created to serve the educational and informational needs of our readers, especially students and young citizens.
- Transparency — We clearly identify authors, sources and distinguish between news, opinion and promotional content.
We make every reasonable effort to verify information before publication. Our accuracy standards include:
- All factual claims are verified against at least one reliable, publicly available primary source (government websites, official press releases, peer-reviewed publications).
- Statistical data is sourced from official government databases, research institutions or reputable national/international organisations.
- Breaking news or rapidly evolving information is clearly marked as developing and updated as facts become available.
- Content that cannot be independently verified is either withheld or clearly labelled as unverified.
RatanSardar.in maintains full editorial independence. The following principles govern our independence:
- No Political Influence — No political party, politician, government body or politically affiliated organisation influences our editorial decisions.
- No Commercial Influence — Advertisers, sponsors or commercial partners do not have any control or influence over editorial content. Sponsored content is clearly disclosed.
- No Institutional Pressure — Editorial decisions are taken solely by the Editor, Prof. Ratan Sardar, based on journalistic merit and public interest.
- Advertorial Disclosure — Any content that is paid, sponsored or promotional is clearly identified with appropriate labels such as “Sponsored,” “Advertisement” or “Paid Partnership.”
We follow strict sourcing standards to ensure content credibility:
- Primary sources (government, official bodies, original research) are always preferred over secondary sources.
- When quoting or referencing external content, proper attribution is provided with source name, date and link where available.
- Confidential sources are protected and only used when there is a clear public interest reason and the source’s claim is verified through other means.
- Third-party content such as images, data, charts and text is used only with appropriate permission or under fair use provisions of the Copyright Act, 1957.
- Artificial Intelligence tools may assist in research or drafting but all final content is reviewed, edited and approved by a human editor before publication.
RatanSardar.in publishes both factual reporting and opinion/analytical content. We clearly distinguish between the two:
- Opinion and analytical articles are clearly labelled as “Opinion,” “Analysis,” “Commentary” or “Editorial View.”
- Opinion content reflects the personal views of the named author and does not represent the official position of any organisation.
- We do not publish opinion content that amounts to defamation, hate speech, incitement to violence or content that violates the dignity of any individual or community.
- Educational analysis of government policies, court judgments and public records is protected under the right to free expression and fair comment doctrine.
We take factual errors seriously. Our corrections process is transparent and prompt:

Significant Errors

Our fact-checking process follows the principles of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and the Press Council of India norms:
- Non-Partisanship — We fact-check claims from all sides of the political and social spectrum without favouritism.
- Transparency of Sources — Sources used in fact-checking are disclosed in the article wherever possible.
- Transparency of Funding — This platform does not receive external funding for fact-checking. All fact-checking is done by the editorial team independently.
- Open & Honest Corrections — If a fact-check conclusion requires revision, we update it openly.
- Methodology Disclosure — For complex fact-checks, we explain the verification methodology in the article itself.
